House A, Batujimbar – Sanur

This privately owned house is one of the original 3 houses built by Geoffrey Bawa in the late 60’s. It had been heavily renovated by the previous 2 owners and upon purchase by the current owner was found to require major repair and renovation work. The architect maintained the building footprints but had to rebuild the central pavilion. The 2 ponds were rebuilt to the same size as original.

Desa Kilana, Batujimbar, Sanur

Work on this house was carried out in 2 phases. The first consisted of the rebuilding of the master bedroom and study, on one side of the property. The second phase added a two bedroom wing for the children to one corner of the plot, and a guest house on newly acquired land. This necessitated a complete replanning of vehicle and pedestrian access as the orientation of the house had now been radically changed.

Villa Tupai, Lodtunduh, Bali

Situated just outside Ubud, the owner renovated the two existing Javanese Joglo houses to increase the number of bedrooms and improve facilities. Another piece of land was purchased at the end of the garden, extending down to a stream bordered by tall local bamboos.

This large gently sloping site of 9,700m2, located close to the beach on the eastern side of Bali was developed for two houses. Each house complex, owned by sisters, was designed and constructed separately, although following the same overall design parameters and roof.

Private house on 80 are site in Sayan, Ubud. Designed as a series of courtyards, each of differing character culminating in swimming pool and deck perched on the edge of the Ayung River valley.
